It’s been a real pleasure opening the mail today! Brooke Hartle, librarian at the Antique Boat Museum, was so kind to send us a copy of the latest Gazette, ABM’s own news magazine – and seeing our great little story from Miss Persia in it. What a nice way of celebrating the first advent. Have a joyful pre-Christmas time everyone.
Although many recreational captains and hobby skippers do not enjoy water or land in winter, there are plenty of things to enjoy at Gents Barn this Christmas – our original Gar Wood Speedster, the legendary Miss Persia, has reached the important phase of painting. It is now slowly revealing exactly the views, as it came out of the factory in Marysville, MI, USA at Gar Wood Inc. – well, let’s rather say in the finest manufacturing work and in many hours this beauty was created by master craftsmen. Only fourteen Speedsters were built and just half of them survived – our Speedster has long been lost, but the multi-year, very hard and international search was worthwhile. Be curious about what will happen over the Christmas holidays and return to the public in Spring 2019 – our legendary Miss Persia will amaze you for sure.
There are only about four weeks until Christmas and one or the other is already looking for a nice gift for his loved ones – we recommend of course a visit to our showroom: Whether antique, high-gloss fire extinguishers from the 30s to 50s, the latest fashion by Holebrook Sweden, fascinating reading material by Delius Klasing or all-natural perfume by April Aromatics, we always have the right idea for you! The most beautiful present for us is currently being created in one of the best restoration workshops for mahogany boats in Germany! Look forward to the resurrection of Miss Persia – the Gar Wood Speedster delivered to the Shah of Persia in 1936. No matter which gift you choose, we wish our customers and interested parties a wonderful Advent season – see you soon, here at beautiful Möhler Castle.
All friends of Scandinavian fashion should visit our store these coming Saturdays – the new Fall / Winter collection 2018 has arrived! Wonderful colours such as “Oak Melange” or “Sand Melange” set the scene for the colder days and if – after a very long, hot summer – it gets really freezing outside, the popular Holebrook knee socks will come right handy – the so-called “snowflake socks” speak for themselves. So, see you soon in our Holebrook-corners for Ladies and Gents here at Ladies Cottage & Gents Barn.
It was time again for a photo shooting – the well-known US-classic car photographer Carlos Kella called us a few weeks ago and came today along with his whole team to shoot Germany’s most beautiful photo model – of course, our Chrysler Town & Country from 1950. Together with the dear colleagues of Lucky Lola we had a fantastic, sunny morning – see you soon again and we look forward to the beautiful photos.
After a happy get-together at the Street Mag Show in Hanover, a few weeks later, an unexpected, but really nice call from Hamburg reached us – Carlos Kella was asking if he could work with our show-winner to feature it in one of his next publications. And so we are pleased that he and his team and the dear colleagues of Lucky Lola from close-by Gütersloh are our guests on the coming bank holiday, shooting our Chrysler in pin-up style. It goes without saying that we have the right model for this once again. But her we won’t reveal at this point. Be curious about our very first images during our shooting day – as usual on our Insta account of Gents Barn. But above all, look forward to the final result, with which Carlos will certainly hit a bull’s-eye again! We just say, “We wish every day would be Woody-Wednesday!”
Last Sunday, the time had finally come – the classic car rally Hamm erFahren made a wonderful stop-over at Gents Barn in favor of the hospice in Hamm! And what a sight to see – 120 shiny and beautiful classic cars stopped and visited our showroom. Could all the drivers guess which automobile brand is shown on the logo of our Speedster’s steering wheel? Tricky, tricky, but finally a challenge for the participants! And in the end more than half could name the right solution: Wartburg, IFA, or Barkas were all correct answers. Yet, the nicest thing was the joy experienced – the many, good-humored faces, the great technical discussions and, of course, the beautiful ambiance here at Schloss Moehler as well as the unique ride around the castle, which Gents Barn arranged exclusively for the rally participants. We’ll just say: See you soon again here at Gents Barn – and now, enjoy our small image gallery (a full view opens with a click on the picture – our special thanks to the nice photographer, Sabine Begett).
Tomorrow, this Sunday, here at our Ladies Cottage, it’s all about parking, guessing, and getting a stamp – the well-known vintage car rally “Hamm erFahren” in favor of the Hamm Hospice will make a stop-over here with us. Well over 120 classic cars and bikes as well as 280 enthusiastic vintage drivers and co-drivers will visit our showroom. We did prepare a nice little challenge for them – they have to take the third special task shortly before the lunch break at our place. We are curious to see who will master our small guessing game best – and thus, will receive the special prize we have prepared just for this occasion. If you can not attend with your classic car yourself, you should still stop by and admire the many two- and four-wheeled, shiny classics – between 11 am and 1 pm the starter field should stop by at Schloss Moehler. We look forward to all visitors.
